Image Gallery
A large collection of graphics and photos gathered and stored on the internet.
Image Map
A group of hyperlinks that are all on an image or group of images. This is often used as a way to navigate around a site. By clicking on different images or parts of an image, a user can go to different places.
Impressions
Also called page views, impressions are the number of people who have viewed an advertisement. This is sometimes used as a payment model for advertisers and website authors.
Inbound Links
A hypertext link to a particular page from elsewhere, bringing traffic to that page. Inbound links are counted to produce a measure of the page popularity. Searches for the inbound links to a page can be made on Altavista, Infoseek and Hotbot or with the Google Toolbar's "backward links".
InfoSeek
A large search engine that has been combined with Go.com. It uses keywords and phrases to search for information on the internet.
Intellectual Property
Intellectual Property is any product of human intelligence that has market value. Intellectual property includes ideas, inventions, literary works, computer processes, or product names and logos. Intellectual property can be protected by the law with copyrights, trademarks, patents, and more.
Internet
A series of international networks that can be accessed for information and resources from anywhere in the world.
Internet Service Provider
Also called ISP, an internet service provider is a company that provides access to the internet for a fee. Some of these companies are NetZero, AOL, and Earthlink.
Interstitial
A kind of advertisement that loads in another browsing window and appears when a user is waiting for a web page to load. These are sometimes called pop-ups.
IP Address - Internet Protocol Address
Basically, the IP Address is the ID number for web pages. IP addresses are quite hard to remember (ex: 122.43.66.80), so
users change them into domain names.
IP Delivery
IP Delivery is synonymous with cloaking. IP Delivery is sending different messages depending on the IP address of the user. This would be used to get a high rank in a search engine without really giving what users are searching for.
IP Number
An Internet Protocol Number is used like an ID number for computers that are connected to the internet. It is similar to an IP Address. An example of an IP Number would be 125.43.224.87
